Georgia Clinical Supervision Requirements

For clinicians pursuing Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure in Georgia, requirements include completing 3,000 hours of post-master’s supervised experience over no less than 36 months, including at least 120 hours of documented supervision, with at least half of those hours in individual supervision and the rest in group or paired formats. At least 50% of supervision must be provided by a qualified supervisor such as an LCSW.

Virginia Clinical Supervision Requirements

Clinicians working toward Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure in Virginia must complete a supervised residency that includes a minimum of 3,000 hours of post-master’s professional counseling experience and a minimum of 100 hours of face-to-face supervision with an approved supervisor. A minimum of one hour and a maximum of four hours of face-to-face supervision for every 40 hours of work experience. No more than 50 of the 100 hours can be obtained through group supervision.

Washington, DC Clinical Supervision Requirements

In Washington, DC, candidates for Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) licensure must accumulate 3,000 hours of post-master’s clinical experience, with supervision from a qualified supervisor. At least 100 hours of supervision must be under a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), and total supervised experience must be completed in a period of 2 to 4 years prior to licensure.
